Paint colours for beauty, hard wear and environmentally friendly
Paint colours for beauty and exceptional hard wear have been chosen for the refurbishment of the Clive Square fountain in Napier. This iconic fountain has a concrete base and cast iron body and needed special attention when it came time for restoration to it’s original look. The preparation required careful removal of the old paint and corrosion using Ultra High Pressure water blasting that is able to strip and prepare both the concrete and the cast iron. Once the preparation was complete, corrosion resistant primers were applied followed by Epotec HB swimming pool paint and then the delicate hand application of our latest Tuff Cote Finish, a water born 2 pack polyurethane to give the bright, long lasting colour and durability required.
The preparation and undercoating was done off site by Soda Blast Hawkes Bay Ltd meaning the statue was disassembled into it’s component parts and transported to a workshop to be done. The statue was then brought back to site, reassembled and painted.
The colours have all been chosen from the Cotec Natures Elements colour range and approved in colaberation with key council officials.
Coating of these mixed substrates can now be done successfully using true water based alternatives to solvent based paint giving equal hard wear and exterior durability.
